FRSA’s capabilities include the overhaul and refurbishment of underground escape equipment for coal mining operations such as Quick Fill Stations and associated equipment.
Quick Fill Stations require an annual inspection and function testing, which can generally be done on-site and in-situ. Requirements at the 5 year and 10 year intervals involve a more comprehensive suite of services, and are generally conducted in FRSA’s Service Centres.
QFS 5 Yearly Overhaul includes:
- Removal and refurbishment of all panel valves, check valves and other pneumatic components
- Removal and verification of all pressure gauges for accuracy
- Removal and pressure testing of any hoses where applicable
- Adjustment and overhaul of sequencing valves where applicable
- Inspection and cleaning of all HP Tubing and connections
- Reassembly and leak testing of the panel assembly
QFS 10 Yearly Overhaul Includes:
- All services listed in the above 5 Yearly Overhaul schedule
- Removal of all breathing air cylinders from QFS POD
- Hydrostatic testing and recertification of all breathing air cylinders
- Refurbishment or replacement of all breathing air cylinder valves
- Sand blasting, non-destructive testing of load points, and repainting of QFS POD
- Reassembly, function, and leak testing of the complete QFS prior to shipping back to site
- All PODS are returned with a full dossier of test certificates, NDT report, paint report, and recommissioning results
