Founded in 1932 by Earl M, Scott, 3M Scott Fire & Safety started as an aviation components manufacturer based out Mr. Scott's garage in Lancaster, New York. The company's first product was a pivoting tail wheel for aircraft, which meant airplanes' tails no longer had to scrape along the runway on an iron rod - and this malleable iron "skid shoe" was relegated to history.

Today, more than 80 years later, 3M Scott Fire & Safety continues to be a leader in innovation with more than 34 products developed in the last five years.
